How to fix iv cannula needle? Teach you two tricks!

Issuing time:2025-03-06 17:15

Safe use of IV indwelling needles is dependent on sound, firm, and appropriate immobilization methods. Below, we share and learn about the fixation

of intravenous indwelling needles.

Analysis of the causes of poor fixation of intravenous indwelling needles:

1. Sterilization solution is not dry that is fixed;

2. Fixation of improper operation, not to achieve tension-free paste;

3. Fixed without good molding;

4. The use of too much adhesive tape is not conducive to clinical observation, and it is not fast enough;

5. Intravenous indwelling needle catheter seat or positive pressure device compression puncture point.

Fixation of intravenous needles for adults

1. Take the puncture point as the center, pay attention to the tension-free holding of the patch, tension-free draping,apply the patch, according to

the shape of the indwelling needle to the patch for shaping and fixing (gently pinch the protruding part of the catheter connector under the dressing and

the isolation plug), so that the dressing and the connector, the isolation plug and the skin are fully adhered to each other.Then gently press the whole dressing

with the finger tips to make full contact between the skin and the dressing.

2、The extension tube is fixed in U-shape with the punctured blood vessel. The U-shaped fixation of the extension tube can avoid the compression of the connector on the puncture vein, so as to avoid prolonged compression affecting the return ofblood flow.

3、The infusion connector is higher than the catheter head end, and the sealing clip is clamped close to the puncture point after the infusion is finished,

which is also aimed at reducing the occurrence of complications such as indwelling needle blood return and tube blockage.

4、Fix the infusion connector by the elevated platform method to avoid pressure on the local skin.

5、Record the puncture time, date, and name of the person who performed the puncture.

Fixation of pediatric IV indwelling needles

1. the transparent patch should be applied completely to the back of the hand;

2. the transparent patch shall be tension-free, vertically or horizontally molded for fixation;

3. the dressing indicates the date, time and signature of the puncture;

4. the infusion connector should be above the puncture point;

5. the Y-shaped connector end cap should face outward and the infusion connector with heparin cap should be parallel to the vessel.

6. the scalp needle should be attached and secured.

7. the adhesive tape should be fixed crosswise or in a single line on the skin, avoiding the heparin cap.

Send you two pediatric intravenous needle fixation tricks!

1. Take the child's own pair of clean cotton socks, cut into 5cm * 8cm cylindrical socks ring around the child's hands and feet with 20cm tape spiral winding

in the socks above the infusion tube will be fixed in the socks, infusion can protect the needle not to be pulled out by the child himself, effectively extending

the life of the child's indwelling needle.

2. Self-adhesive elastic bandage combined with 3M transparent dressing fixation, after successful venous puncture and tube placement, use 1 piece of breathable

tape to fix the handle of the needle, and then use the 3M transparent sticker to fix the needle of the indwelling needle and the handle of the needle in a closed

manner. Starting from the puncture site, wrap the self-adhesive elastic bandage around the child's limb,choose the appropriate length to cut, and then press

the needle handle to overlap the broken part of the bandage on the bandage that has already been wrapped, press the overlap part of the bandage gently

with a little force, and the tightness of the bandage is suitable for insertion into the operator's index and middle fingers. The proximal end of the elastic

bandage should be cut with a mouthful of 5-7cm long, and the thumb, heel and elbow joints should beexposed when wrapping to avoid affecting the

fixation effect when the joints are moving.

Precautions for fixation of intravenous indwelling needle

1. The dressing or fixation device should be closely adhered to the skin. Transparent dressing is fixed by tension-free placement, shaping and stroking

with the puncture point as the center.

2, shaping operation of three steps: from the small head to the big head shaping - outward smoothing the whole dressing -tearing the border while

pressing.

3, Do not press hard on the puncture site.

4, Replace the dressing immediately when the integrity of the dressing at the puncture site is damaged by loosening or contamination.

5、To the patient and escort to do a good job of teaching, the puncture side of the limb to minimize the activities, keep the local dry, to avoid bacterial

invasion of the wound.
